We had a fun day (and exhausting) day at our Microsoft 365 Productivity summit last week. We also enjoyed dinner out with our clients in attendance afterward. Nice to have some social time with everyone at Texas de Brazil. The salad bar was amazing and of course the meats were as well. Thanks for filling out our post event survey too. May special Maintenance task
During the month of May we will be reviewing rules in your Exchange server and making any updates necessary to the rule set. The rules we are looking at in particular help fight malware. These are the blocking of executable files in attachments and the blocking of auto-forwarding messages into another domain. In addition, we will review the rule for email encryption (type the word encrypt into the subject line) and the ability to block confidential email from having people outside the company added (type the word confidential into the subject line). Both of those trigger words are configurable to your needs. As Ted touched on during his Infrastructure in the cloud session, your servers haven’t gone away they are just managed in the cloud now and there are actually more of them with more features. We’re going to make an effort to be more transparent about the work we do for you on the server side of things.
FREE Cybersecurity training and scholarship opportunity for college students (May 10 deadline!)
There’s a tremendous shortage of cybersecurity professionals and I just received notice of a scholarship program. This notice came from Calyptix, your firewall. We love them because their level of care and passion for small business matches ours. Here’s the note from Ben.
This morning I just learned about a very exciting opportunity for the college students in our lives interested in cybersecurity. Given the challenges small businesses face with the growing shortage of cybersecurity talent, I thought this opportunity might pique your interest enough to share it with a young person who might be considering cybersecurity as a field.
Students at 1,240 U.S. colleges (24% of all U.S. colleges) are participating in Cyber Fast Track, competing to show they have the aptitude and grit to win more than $2 million in scholarships for SANS classes as well as hundreds of thousands in scholarships at their schools. The deadline for entries is this Friday, May 10. More than 5,000 students (out of the 12,500 who have tried) have already done well enough to move into round two of the program. The program can help identify and cultivate great talent for part time jobs in IT!
