You represent the majority

CompTia is a trade organization for IT firms and they produce some excellent research for us. I was recently reading their report on SMB (small and medium business) firm priorities and perception of IT services and came across the graphic below. It is from the Bureau of Labor and shows only those firms in which people derive full time employment. Although there are technically 28 million firms with fewer than 1000 employees they have filtered out those part-time hobby type businesses and arrive at 9 million “real businesses””

At Harbor our focus is firms with fewer than 100 computers. We feel we can have the best impact and we just enjoy working with the people at smaller companies. A couple of our clients have grown larger than this over the years that we’ve been with them but most remain small.

If we look at that part of the pyramid then we see that you represent 98.1% of all businesses and you create 57.6% of the nations jobs and the wages you pay make up 47.4% of all wages in the Country.

Know that you are important. You are the most important segment of business. You are the most important business to us.
