New Year, New Possibilities!
Harbor Computer Services would like to take a moment to wish each of you a Happy New Year! We’ve seen a lot of new changes coming from Microsoft lately and wanted to take a moment to share some changes that might affect you and your organization.
Office 365 is now Microsoft 365
The most obvious change is that Microsoft is changing the name of Office 365 to Microsoft 365. Microsoft 365 now refers to the entire suite of apps, while the name Office 365 still refers to only the old reliable apps such as Word, Excel, OneDrive, and Power Point. If you haven’t already, you will be receiving an email when your accounts are migrated over to the new name. This will affect you minimally as it is just a name change.
New Modern Look to Office
Have you noticed the new look of Outlook, Word, Excel, and a few others? The ribbon icons have been modernized in the roll outs over the past couple of months, but don’t worry, everything is still there!
Prevent Downloads when Sharing Documents
There is a new feature for sharing documents via a link, where you can choose to prevent downloads. This could be crucial in sharing sensitive information. This may not show up for everyone yet. The roll out is supposed to be complete by the end of January, so keep an eye out!
Skype for Business Features are Being Replaced with Microsoft Teams
Skype for Business will be down for maintenance on 1/6/19 at approximately 5PM Eastern for a few hours. Please plan accordingly.
Speaking of Skype, if you haven’t already heard the news, Skype for Business is being phased out. Don’t panic though! All capabilities of Skype for Business are now in Teams. If your organization uses Skype it’s time to start thinking about making that change.
