Harbor Computer Services hit a milestone birthday. This marks our 15th year! I still remember the day when I went around to my tiny base of side clients and told them that I was quitting my job and I needed their support. The support was there. Everyone was so positive, encouraging and full of great business advice. It really meant a lot to me and gave me the confidence to move forward. I can look back and say that still to this day those original 6 are still with me. Shortly thereafter I took over another 14 from a firm that was going out of business and most of those are still with us too.
It’s been a joy to observe and participate in your growth. I’ve seen our clients grow from very small to approaching 100 computer users over these years. We now have several pushing that number and a bunch of you aren’t that far behind. Amazing! There’s been a lot of success among our clients and though we know that we play a small role we still look upon you with pride. You have all taught me a lot about running a business (and now I run two). I have observed and learned from you how to behave during times of plenty, mild recession and the worst recession of our lifetimes. You have played a role in guiding Harbor’s business growth and strategy and I really appreciate everything that has occurred over these last 15 years.
There’s been a lot of change in the last 15 years. IT never remains the same and actually that’s one of the things that I love about it. There are always new challenges and with the rate of change that is occurring right now in mobility, cloud, and apps the need for quality IT has never been greater. There will be many of your competition that make horrendous mistakes in managing their data because of number of changes that are in motion. There’s a chase happening where the grass appears greener over there, no quick over here, no wait come this way…and it’s dangerous for businesses to get swept up in it. So as we’ve always done we are torturing ourselves with trying new apps, new ways of managing data, new ways of securing what’s important and of course we’re training, training, training. It’s what we do so we can answer your questions and make recommendations with authority and experience and help keep your from making mistakes along the way.
There are just a couple of core tenants to being Harbor Computer Services and they are for us to stay in front of every wave that comes along and take the beating so our clients don’t have to and to provide quality IT services covering as broad a scope as our clients require.
