It was 2010 when I wrote the blog post announcing that we would no longer be providing Dell computers for our customers. At this time they had closed their last plant in the USA and to us the quality, support and shipment times slipped far below our tolerance. We are always happy to support what ever your choice is; Dell is just not our choice.

Since then Dell has fallen on hard times, is no longer a publicly traded corporation and is back in the ownership of Michael Dell as a private firm. It has not however moved back into the USA. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dell#Dell_facilities
Of course the USA has no computer component manufacturing. It’s all done in Asia. Part of that is because of the horrific impact on the environment due to the heavy metals contained in our beloved electronics. Part of that is because of low labor costs which makes the USA have the least expensive electronics in the world. I have IT friends from all over the world and when they visit here, they stock up.
I like to review our choices frequently to make sure that we’re staying on top of the latest in technology for you. The good news is that we’re sticking with Equus Computer Systems. They are 100% USA headquartered, sales and manufacturing assembly and an Employee Owned corporation.
From quality to service they think like we do. We think that they think like our customers do too. Harbor Computer Services has about 60% of its clients in the manufacturing, prototyping and engineering field. When people buy American it is good for all of us. We’re proud to have been supporting American manufacturing since our launch.
They provide us with quality servers, laptops and PC’s. Genuine Intel parts are important to us. This is what they build with. Equus also builds a lot of devices and works for OEM’s that private label their equipment. You may have heard of NetFlix? They run on Equus. I’ve toured their facilities and I’m not permitted to list the OEM’s that they build equipment for but it is impressive.
We’re going to stick with Equus. They produce a quality product that is second to none. They have no ego of name. They represent the best of the USA.

Just noticed the NUCs. I am interested in a similar product that can be placed inside a Safe, in Mexico. I will have a chord into the safe to keep it running. I call it a Posting Computer. Like musicians who want their songs available at all times, but with the security of being their own server. I would run the NUC by WiFi from a simple desktop computer. That could be anything. I can get used computers in Mexico. I want the NUC to eventually be the computer for a Universidad Autonoma. It will be good enough and they are getting more compact, all the time. Am interested in American made. It seems an oppressive Green Glass Ceiling that we do not have computer manufacturing here, in the United States.
