There are new types of services out there that are sweeping the Internet like wildfire. There are bunch of them now, multiplying in number everyday. The point of these applications is to automate the performing of a task in one cloud app when something happens in another cloud app.
For example:
The application above is called Flow and it comes with Office 365. As you would expect from Microsoft Flow is very business oriented. It focuses on taking information to or from Microsoft’s applications and letting them do something in a non-Microsoft application. It also works the other way around. There are hundreds of template like these, maybe thousands and you have the option of custom creating your own too.
I can’t squeeze all of the top level categories in for you but here are few. Under these will be tens of different prescriptions for connecting to other cloud apps and causing them to do something with the information you want to send to them.
Another business version of this is called Zapier. Zapier is most often used by developers. They can now build these ZAPS into applications. Many applications are supported but some require a paid premium account to access. Quickbooks Online is one such app. Here’s an example:
Now our homes are getting computerized too so of course there’s a similar solution for home, called If This Then That or IFTTT. At IFTTT they call them recipes.
So as you see there are ways to make your cloud applications do things that you probably never imagined. So go ahead and dream We might just be able to make it happen for you.
